Small by design. Built for the next two decades, not the last two.
Consulting is mid-way through its biggest structural change since offshoring. We're not a smaller version of an old firm — we're an early version of the new one.
What's actually changing
The pyramid is ending
The old model made its margin on juniors. AI has made junior work cheap — the big firms are already restructuring away from it. The pyramid now survives on inertia.
Offshore arbitrage is fading
The largest offshore IT firms have stopped growing, and their own CEOs say AI is shrinking revenue. What still matters is judgment — never cheaper offshore.
Buyers ask AI first
Half of enterprise buyers now start research with an AI assistant. The winners aren't the loudest — they're the ones whose record checks out everywhere.
Trust has been repriced
Most buyers say AI vendors overclaim, and Australian boards have long memories. Evidence, understatement and named accountability are the scarce assets now.
The next two decades
The firm of the future isn't a bigger bench
It's a few senior people close to the client, with AI agents doing production work under evidence and sign-off. Even the biggest AI labs are building their services arms this way. It's not a technology bet — it's an economics bet.
- Senior people, forward-deployed. Whoever scopes it, delivers it.
- Agents produce; humans sign. Evidence trail and a named signature on every artefact.
- Every engagement compounds. Learning becomes platform capability, not someone's memory.
- Priced towards outcomes. Measured baselines, no guaranteed miracles.
- Onshore, in plain sight. Data stays in Australia. Risk teams welcome.
Honesty about size
We're small. That's the point.
No juniors learning on your budget. No handover between who sold and who delivers. No towers to fund. And no fragility either — the platform keeps the history, the methods are written down, and the founder has done this for two decades.
The argument continues on LinkedIn
This page is a position, not a brochure. Rajesh writes about S/4HANA, clean core and what AI is really doing to delivery — including what didn't work. Disagreement welcome.
